Public Institution Education and Rehabilitation Center for Children, Youth and Adults with Developmental Disabilities of Ljubuški Municipality Gets New Equipment

Centar Ljubuški 3USAID’s Marginalized Populations Support Activity provided 16,000 BAM for procuring equipment for the Education and Rehabilitation Center for Children, Youth and Adults with Developmental Disabilities of the Ljubuški Municipality.

The donated equipment includes the Play Attention set - system for improving executive and attention function of persons undergoing rehabilitation; AIT - Auditory Integration Training which entails music therapy for children intended to enhance and develop motor skills, emotional, intellectual and social needs; speech therapy probes used to correct pronunciation - rehabilitation of persons with speech impediments, and technical equipment necessary for the functioning of the Center and the work of our experts.

USAID’s support to Bosnia and Herzegovina includes supporting organizations and institutions working with persons with disabilities, which is why we decided to support this Center. We’re glad we can help centers such as this one, because it’s important to make sure that persons with disabilities are accepted as integral members in our society”,  - said Jasmin Bešić, Chief of Party of USAID’s Marginalized Populations Support Activity.

In addition to their beneficiaries from Ljubuški, the Center also provides services to neighboring municipalities (Grude, Čitluk, Čapljina).

“Thanks to this donation by USAID’s Marginalized Populations Support Activity, we will be able to launch two new rehabilitation programs - music therapy and neurofeedback, both of which are extremely important types of rehabilitation and will improve the work that we do”, said Marija Kikaš, Director of the Center.

The Center has between 30 and 40 regular beneficiaries who use their professional services. A total of 80 persons with different types of disabilities use the Center’s services.
