Anđa Lovrić from Prozor-Rame is one of the women awarded funds for launching her own business, provided by the Fund for Supporting Businesses Owned by Marginalized Women. Anđa is planning to launch a business designed to provide in-home support to elderly or ill persons.

“Three or four years ago I wanted to launch a business on my own, but the support I’m getting the USAID and the Municipality of Prozor-Rama means a lot to me, and I hope my business will be successful”, said Anđa, adding that sometimes all it takes is opening someone’s door and being kind.

USAID’s Marginalized Populations Support Activity, in cooperation with the Municipality of Prozor-Rama secured 39,000 BAM for supporting the launch and development of businesses owned by marginalized women. Five women from Prozor-Rama were provided financial support, and the grant agreements were signed yesterday in an official ceremony.  The women will launch businesses in the production industry, service industry, agriculture and hospitality, and will be provided with financial support and mentorship in launching and running their business.

This support is intended for businesses owned by women with disabilities, mothers of persons with disabilities, women from rural areas, victims of violence and unemployed young women.

“The Municipality of Prozor-Rama gladly takes part in public calls issued by international institutions, and this time we have the honour of being one of the 9 municipalities taking part in this USAID’s activity. The grant agreements we signed will provide five new jobs which is significant for our municipality”, said the Head of the Department of Development, Entrepreneurship, Crafts and Finance of the Municipality of Prozor-Rama, Mr Josip Juričić.

The funds are awarded through the Fund for Supporting Businesses Owned by Marginalized Women which was founded in the beginning of 2017, and has thus far supported over 100 businesses. The support provided by the Fund resulted in the launch of sustainable businesses that continue to grow, improving many household budgets and providing new jobs.

Creating the Fund, with joint forces of USAID/PPMG and partners, provided opportunities for sustainable development of entrepreneurship of marginalized women, by encouraging self-employment, improving and facilitating their participation in entrepreneurship, and creating new jobs.
