Novi Grad: Making EUR-pallets Is Not Only for Men

Novi Grad 1Biljana Topolić from Novi Grad is one of the women awarded funds for launching her own business, provided by the Fund for Supporting Businesses Owned by Marginalized Women. She decided to build a business around making EUR-pallets, and USAID’s Marginalized Populations Support Activity (USAID/PPMG) and the Municipality of Novi Grad.

Today, in the Assembly hall of the Municipality of Novi Grad, Biljana and three other women received support for launching their own businesses in agriculture, production and the service industry.

The Fund for Businesses Owned by Marginalized Women, launched by USAID’s Marginalized Populations Support Activity (USAID/PPMG), is intended to contribute to creating an environment conducive to sustainable development of businesses owned by marginalized women by encouraging self-employment and helping women enter the world of entrepreneurship and create new jobs.

In cooperation with the Municipality of Novi Grad, the USAID/PPMG provided a total of 35,000 BAM for supporting the launch and development of four businesses owned by marginalized women.
Support in developing businesses was provided to women with disabilities, mothers of persons with disabilities, women from rural areas, victims of violence and unemployed young women.
The support provided by the Fund in 18 local communities in BiH resulted in 160 launched businesses that continue to grow, improving many household budgets and providing new jobs.
