96 Marginalized Women Provided with Jobs

Livno1USAID’s Marginalized Populations Support Activity supported the launching and development of 96 businesses owned by marginalized women.

These are businesses launched by women with disabilities, mothers of persons with disabilities, women living in rural areas, women victims of violence and unemployed young women in Konjic, Teslić, Tešanj, Zvornik, Rudo, Prijedor, Livno, Kalinovik and Visoko.

Mirza Halilčević from Tuzla won the “Pero poštovanja” award

pero postovanja 2Mirza Halilčević from Tuzla won the “Pero poštovanja” award. He wrote the best piece promoting LGBTI rights and culture in BiH called “Autohomophobia – Personal and Political Challenge and Hindrance”.

“Pero poštovanja” is an award given by the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in cooperation with the Association for Democratic Initiatives , as an activity of the project (In)visible minorities – Zero Tolerance to Discrimination of LGBT Persons.

LGBTI Persons are Entitled to Public Services Too

LGBTHuman rights of LGBTI persons were the main topic of the roundtable “Local Action for Ensuring Systematic Support to LGBTI Persons in Sarajevo Canton”, held on 19 December 2017 in Sarajevo by the Sarajevo Open Center (SOC), as one of the activities of the project “Institutional Support Network for LGBTI Persons in Sarajevo Canton”, supported by USAID’s Marginalized Populations Support Activity (USAID/PPMG).

The last training was intended for organizations selected through a public call issued in September 2017, whose activities are focused on improving the position of persons with disabilities, the Roma, women and youth. This training was dedicated to strategic planning. 

Sarajevo Gets Another Service Center for Families of Children and Persons with Developmental Disabilities

The Center, located on the Obala Kulina bana street, was opened in a formal ceremony by the US Ambassador to BiH, Maureen Cormack, Mayor of the Stari Grad Municipality, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić and BiH track and field champion and the Center’s first goodwill ambassador, Amel Tuka.
