Marginalized Groups in BiH Send Clear Message: We Can Do More #Možemo Više

MV1More than 300 citizens, youth, women, Roma, persons with disabilities and minority returnees, sent a clear message during today’s event #MožemoViše - Celebrate human rights – marginalized groups can do more and deserve more rights.

The event #MožemoViše - Celebrate human rights, organized today at the hotel Holiday by USAID’s Marginalized Populations Support Activity (USAID/PPMG), offered interactive and creative workshops and specially designed programs intended to present more than twenty non-governmental organizations and associations from across BiH, whose efforts are focused on providing 5000 BiH citizens with access to basic human rights, equality and participation in the society.

“We’re pleased that the USAID, together with its partner organizations, helped secure basic human rights for more than 5000 persons living on the margins of the society in BiH. We’re also pleased to have cooperated with government institutions and NGOs from across BiH, to support programs designed to ensure that the basic human rights of these groups are respected and allow them to participate in the society as equal citizens.” – said Peter Duffy, Mission Director of USAID/BiH. Visitors had the opportunity to learn more about the organizations included in the event, participate in interactive activities and hear positive stories by individuals who got a chance to live a dignified life thanks to the work of organizations supported by USAID/PPMG.

“My life is not a sad, but a happy story because there are people who care about us, children without parents who have no one to take care of them. I got a chance to have additional training, get a job and have a fresh start. I believe there will be others willing to help us.” – said Amra Zolić, one of the beneficiaries of USAID/PPMG grants.

The goal of the event #MožemoViše - Celebrate human rights was to show the general public that the voices of many citizens in BiH are not being heard, which excludes them from everyday social, cultural, economic and political life. At the same time, the goal is to show that these groups are unjustifiably neglected, and can greatly contribute to the society in BiH.
